Palmekop Campsite is situated on Palmenhorst Farm 60km from Swakopmund in the Dorob National Park on the Swakop River. It has a very interesting and documented history. Access is gained via the National Swakopmund - Windhoek road, 40km from Swakop and then driving 20km down into the river. Or you can gain access from Goanikontes Oasis via the Welwitschia road into the river, when dry, and driving 10km east. There is at present a small vegetable business operating on the farm ,which supplies certain outlets in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.
Palmenkop Campsite nestles under beautiful rock formations in the moon valley, truly one of the most unique landscapes in the world. Visitors are afforded incredible views along the river valley from certain advantage points as well as stunning moon rising occurrences .
The quiet and tranquillity along with amazing night, star, gazing opportunities, and certain diverse wildlife activity, lends itself to this area being made available for touristic activities.
